Further expansion at Photoshot with the purchase of The Travel Library, a long established source of travel imagery

Charles Taylor, managing director of Photoshot, today announced the purchase of the assets of The Travel Library Limited, the Photoshot group’s 15th acquisition.

Charles said, “The addition of The Travel Library and TTL-Plus to our family of collections is another significant milestone in our plan to establish Photoshot as a quality based, full service, international, photo library group. The collections perfectly compliment our existing travel and nature collections World Pictures, NHPA, Bruce Coleman, Picture Nature, Photos Horticultural and Oceans Image making us a powerhouse in this area.”

“We are extremely excited at becoming the new custodian of this wonderful collection and will do everything possible to build on the long tradition of quality and service that The Travel Library has provided for many years. “

“We have now bought a total of fifteen complementary photo businesses since 2001,” Charles continued, “and service customers from wholly owned offices in New York, London, and Berlin. With this growth, we are confident that we will be a leading supplier of travel and nature imagery in UK and beyond. Growth in this area fits with Photoshot’s plans to supply a broad range of quality imagery to picture buyers, be the image a live news picture, an archival record, an entertainment event or exclusive celebrity portrait, a travel shot or a wildlife image or a creative shoot. Photoshot is one of only a few agencies that can supply this mixture of live and stock imagery.”

Philip Enticknap, Managing Director of The Travel Library Limited says, “I am sure that this change of ownership will be great for The Travel Library and TTL-Plus. The market has been difficult for all agencies in the last few years, and becoming part of a bigger, more diverse group will enable the collections to compete more effectively in the future. When looking for a company to build upon the existing strengths of the Travel Library, I wanted to make sure that the new owners were a picture business committed to photographers and great photography. Photoshot has admirably demonstrated that it shares this desire with their acquisition of several other leading libraries and the way those businesses have thrived under the Photoshot umbrella.”

Retna Collection Goes Back To Its Roots

Photoshot MD Charles Taylor announced that Retna, the company that was acquired last year will go back to its roots as a library for music images, strengthened by the music content from LFI and in parallel with Idols. Redcover will house Photoshots interior and lifestyle photography.

This is what Charles Taylor, our MD said about it:

‘To make the most of this wealth of music imagey, we have decided to take Retna back to is roots, which is something that I know many of you would love. We are going to re-focus Retna as the premier music library out there, adding in wonderful music content from LFI, and working in parallel with Idols. Its entertainment and lifestyle content will be transferred to other parts of the group.

As music libraries, Retna and Idols will sit along side Photoshot’s other collections which provide live and archival news, sport and entertainment imagery and not to mention our wonderful nature and travel collections. Red Cover will be our interiors and lifestyle brand. Now we really can give most customers a great deal, if not all, of what they want.’

Before this she led the direct salesteams at Digital Vision, Imagesource and Moodboard.

Another Acquisition, Redcover Becomes Part Of Photoshot

Days after its acquisition of LFI/Idols, London based Photoshot has acquired Interior photography specialist Redcover. The agency had closed down late February.

Over the coming days and weeks we will be working hard to integrate the collection in the Photoshot offering. We also recognise that as a result of the closure there are a number of issues that need to be resolved and we’re very sensitive to the fact that we need to deal with these quickly. Our Photoshot MD, Charles Taylor has sent out a message to all our contributors already and this included the following statement

‘As a company, I think that Photoshot is well placed to make the plan work and to earn money for you. As a business owner, I don’t think that I have ever felt more confident that we can do well. We have broken that glass ceiling of size and scope that has claimed so many agencies as victims over the last few years. I am personally going to drive the re-positioning, and will focus on two qualities – comprehensiveness and excellence.’

We hope you bear with us during the changes and help us make Redcover a strong addition to our collections. We’re already receiving daily requests for images from our partners and are confident that there is a good future for the collection under the Photoshot umbrella.

Bruce Coleman Live And Ready For Distribution

If you are a direct client on our Photoshot website you will now have access to the World renowned Bruce Coleman collection.
Photoshot acquired Bruce Coleman collection early in 2010 and we’ve spend months editing and organising it. Now that this job is done we’re proud to present over 160.000 images for usage. We have also made the collection available to our distribution partners all over the World.
It will take some time of course before the collection will be available everywhere, mainly due to the fact that we’re sending it out on Harddrives to our partners and there is a limit to how many we can handle at the same time.

So f you’re interested in representing this great collection of over 300 photographers please contact us as soon as possible as there is a lot of interest Worldwide. If we’re looking for distribution in your territory we will add you to the list and ship a drive to you when it becomes available. We will of course confirm this to you once we’re ready.

We’re very excited about this freshly edited collection and hope you feel the same way.
